This Eid, Dhallywood has introduced a host of new actors to the silver screen, marking significant debuts for both local talents and actresses from Tollywood. Audiences have been treated to fresh performances as emerging stars bring new energy to the industry.

Pressure Cooker: Snigdha and Maria Shine

Snigdha Chowdhury and Maria Shanta made their cinematic debuts with Raihan Rafi’s Pressure Cooker. Snigdha, who has been modelling for over five years, was initially slated to appear in Raihan Rafi’s 2022 film Rasta, produced by Jaaz Multimedia, opposite Siam Ahmed. Although the film’s shooting commenced, it was never completed. Finally, Snigdha entered Dhallywood through Pressure Cooker.

Snigdha shared, “Over three and a half years ago, I was supposed to work with Raihan Rafi on another film, which did not happen. Despite the delay, being able to work with him now is delightful. I am thrilled by the audience’s positive response and hope this journey continues to be rewarding.”

Maria, who also began her career in modelling and has over two years of experience in television, expressed similar excitement: “This is my first film. I feel both nervous and exhilarated. Being part of Pressure Cooker and its beautiful story is a tremendous joy for me.”

Bonolota Express: Sabrina and Masha’s Debut

Tanim Noor’s Bonolota Express introduces several young actors alongside established stars. This film marks the big-screen debut of Sabrina Azad, while singer Masha Islam also makes her cinematic entry.

Sabrina commented, “Though technically my second film, this is my first to release. Shooting was full of fun; we even laughed uncontrollably during some scenes. The audience has already embraced the film, and I hope this success paves the way for future projects.”

Masha added, “The director asked me one day if I was interested in acting. After auditioning, I was selected. Acting on the big screen feels like a dream, and even though my role is small, it is pivotal to the story.”

Rakshas: Sadnima Enters Dhallywood

Former child actress Sadnima Binte Noman, known for her work in television dramas and the web film Little Miss Chaos, debuted in Dhallywood through Mehedi Hasan Hridoy’s Rakshas. Her transition to the big screen has been widely anticipated.

Tollywood Stars Join Dhallywood

A number of Tollywood actresses have also ventured into Dhallywood. In Abu Hayat Mahmud’s Prince: Once Upon a Time in Dhaka, Shakib Khan’s co-star Jyotirmoyee Kundu from West Bengal makes her Dhallywood debut. Previously, she began her career in television series and entered Tollywood with Projapoti 2.

Similarly, Sushmita Chattopadhyay appears in Mehedi Hasan Hridoy’s Rakshas, marking her first Dhallywood film. She debuted in Tollywood with Prem Tem (2021) and later appeared in films like Chengiz and Manush. Sushmita has expressed admiration for the warmth of Bangladeshi audiences, despite finding the transition challenging.
