Pakistan Confirm Three-Match T20I Tour of Sri Lanka in January 2026

Pakistan will begin their preparations for the 2026 T20 World Cup with a short but strategically important three-match T20I series in Sri Lanka next January. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially announced that the side, led by Salman Agha, will travel to Sri Lanka during the first week of January, with all matches scheduled to be played at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium. The fixtures will take place on January 7, 9, and 11, forming Pakistan’s first white-ball engagement of the new year.

The PCB has emphasized that this series will play a crucial role in providing the squad with meaningful competitive exposure ahead of the global tournament. Their performances have largely been positive, with wins in most of these assignments, though they fell short in the away Bangladesh series and lost the Asia Cup final to India.

Sri Lanka, meanwhile, are coming off a busy schedule as well. They recently completed a three-week tour of Pakistan, featuring three ODIs and a tri-series that also involved Zimbabwe. Their familiarity with Pakistan’s style of play adds an extra layer of intrigue to the upcoming January clashes.

For Pakistan, the Sri Lanka tour is only the beginning of a packed World Cup build-up. Immediately after returning home, they are set to host Australia for a three-match T20I series in late January. Once that concludes, the team will once again fly back to Sri Lanka for the World Cup, scheduled to begin on February 7.

Pakistan has been placed in Group A of the tournament, set to play against India, Namibia, Netherlands, and the United States in Colombo. The highly anticipated Pakistan vs India matchup is expected to be one of the highlights of the group stage.
