Bangladeshi musician and composer Pritom Hasan has announced that he is taking a break from performing item songs in films, marking another shift in his evolving creative journey. Widely known for his energetic dance numbers and distinctive musical style, Pritom revealed the decision alongside the release announcement of his latest track for a major Eid film.
Pritom Hasan first rose to prominence through a series of unconventional and catchy dance-oriented tracks that quickly became cultural talking points in Bangladesh’s contemporary music scene. Early hits such as Biansab, Girlfriend-er Biya, and especially Kabab-er Haddhi established him as a bold and experimental voice in the industry.
Following the success of Kabab-er Haddhi in 2020, he initially stepped away from the item-song format, citing a desire to explore more varied musical directions. However, his presence soon returned to cinema, where he became a regular contributor to high-profile commercial film soundtracks.
Over the past few years, Pritom’s compositions and performances in item numbers have become a recurring feature in major releases, particularly in blockbuster Eid films starring leading actor Shakib Khan. His association with such projects turned into a consistent trend across four consecutive Eid seasons, further cementing his reputation as a go-to name for high-energy cinematic tracks.
Among his most popular film songs are Lage Ura Dhura, Chand Mama, and Lichur Bagan, each of which gained significant popularity among mass audiences.
For the upcoming Eid release Prince, Pritom composed and performed a new item song titled Jwala Jwala, which also features legendary singer Runa Laila. The collaboration has been described as a long-anticipated creative pairing, with Pritom revealing that he had been planning to work with her for several years.
According to him, the idea was to present Runa Laila in a fresh and unconventional musical setting, blending her iconic voice with a modern dance track. The opportunity eventually materialised when the film project aligned with his creative vision approximately three months ago.
It was during the announcement of this collaboration that Pritom also disclosed his decision to step back from item songs in cinema.
Explaining his decision, Pritom Hasan said he intends to take a temporary break from performing in film dance tracks. He suggested that while he may return in the future, he currently wishes to explore more personal and less commercial musical expressions.
He remarked that he may return to styles similar to his earlier work, highlighting songs such as Shoroter Shesh Theke, More Jak, and Khoka—tracks he described as more emotionally fulfilling and creatively grounding, even if they carry less mainstream hype.
He also expressed gratitude to both supporters and critics of his film music journey, acknowledging the role audience feedback has played in shaping his career.

Beyond music, Pritom Hasan continues to expand his presence in the entertainment industry through acting. His recent appearance in the Eid OTT release Cactus, directed by Shihab Shaheen, saw him portray the character of a hacker named Manash, alongside actress Mehazabien Chowdhury.
He also has another project, the web film Tumi Ami Shudhu, awaiting release, further highlighting his growing versatility across multiple creative fields.
Pritom Hasan’s latest announcement reflects a broader pattern in his career—moving between mainstream commercial success and more experimental artistic phases. While his departure from film item songs marks the end of a highly visible chapter, it also signals a potential return to more intimate musical storytelling, a space where he first built his identity as an artist.
