Birth and Family Background:
Shahriar Kabir was born on November 20, 1950, in Feni, Bangladesh, into a family deeply rooted in literature, culture, and intellectual life. He is the cousin of the renowned filmmaker and writer Zahir Raihan and the prominent intellectual and writer Shahidullah Kaiser, both of whom had a significant impact on his creative development.
Education and Career:
After completing his formal education at Dhaka University, Shahriar Kabir joined the country's most popular weekly magazine, Bichitra, in 1972. He worked as a journalist there for over two decades, eventually becoming the executive editor until 1992. His writing always championed social justice, secularism, and the promotion of humanity.
Contributions as a Writer and Children’s Author:
Though he has written across many genres, Kabir is especially celebrated for his contributions to children's literature. His simple, yet profound stories and poems have played a pivotal role in nurturing the imagination, values, and human consciousness of young readers.
