The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon near Mulla Bricks, a brick kiln in Ramkrishnadi village, Latabdi Union, in Sirajdikhan upazila. Police recovered the child’s body at around 9am on Thursday.
According to police and local sources, Golap Hossain’s family home is in Ramkrishnadi village. However, he lives with his family at his in-laws’ house in Doshorpara village, within the same union. His father, Jainal Mia, has been working at a brick kiln in the Ramkrishnadi area for the past five years.
Sources said the attack occurred at around 5pm on Wednesday as Towba and her father were returning after visiting her grandfather. The child was allegedly killed during the attack, and her body was left in an abandoned plot near the brick kiln. Golap Hossain was also attacked with a sharp weapon and sustained serious injuries.
The circumstances surrounding the attack remain unclear. Authorities have yet to establish why the child and her father were targeted, whether the incident stemmed from a personal dispute, or who was responsible. No further details about the alleged attackers or the events leading up to the assault were immediately available.
After receiving information about the incident, police went to the scene on Thursday morning and recovered the child’s body. The incident has caused concern and distress among local residents, particularly because of the child’s young age and the severity of the violence against her father.
Sirajdikhan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Alauddin said the motive behind the incident had not been established immediately. He added that further details would be provided later.
