Football fans worldwide are anticipating a historic spectacle as FIFA prepares to host a Super Bowl-style half-time show during the upcoming World Cup final this Sunday at the New York-New Jersey Stadium. According to official plans, the traditional 15-minute interval is expected to be extended to 20 or 25 minutes to accommodate an extraordinary 11-minute musical extravaganza.

Under current regulations authorised by the International Football Association Board (IFAB), the standard half-time interval is strictly limited to 15 minutes. To navigate this, FIFA is considering two potential solutions. The first option is a direct extension of the interval to 20 minutes. Alternatively, FIFA may implement a standard 15-minute rest period for players, immediately followed by an additional 11-minute entertainment segment. Such extended breaks are not entirely unprecedented; during last year’s Club World Cup final, performances by Coldplay, J Balvin, and Doja Cat stretched the half-time break to 24 minutes.

The creative direction of the highly anticipated event is being led by Chris Martin, the frontman of the British band Coldplay. Whilst the highly anticipated match is scheduled to kick off at 3:00 pm local time, the official closing ceremony will commence earlier at 1:30 pm.
