Taka Maintains Stability Against Major Currencies in Official Interbank Trading

Bangladesh Bank has released the latest foreign exchange figures for 12 September 2026, showcasing a period of relative stability for the Bangladeshi Taka (BDT) across major global currencies. The central bank’s updated reference rates reflect ongoing monetary measures aimed at managing currency volatility amidst evolving macroeconomic conditions in South Asia.

According to the official data, the US Dollar (USD) remains firmly anchored, trading at a buying rate of BDT 122.95 and a selling rate of BDT 123.10. The modest spread between bid and ask prices highlights steady liquidity management in interbank dollar transactions.

Meanwhile, European and British currencies continue to reflect global market fluctuations. The British Pound (GBP) is quoted at BDT 166.49 for buying and BDT 166.81 for selling. The Euro (EUR) stands at BDT 143.01 buying and BDT 143.21 selling. Regional trade currencies, including the Indian Rupee (INR) and Chinese Yuan (CNY), maintain consistent operational parities, with the Rupee holding steady at BDT 1.29.

The detailed breakdown of official buying and selling exchange rates published by Bangladesh Bank includes:

  • US Dollar (USD): Buying at BDT 122.95 | Selling at BDT 123.10

  • British Pound (GBP): Buying at BDT 166.49 | Selling at BDT 166.81

  • Euro (EUR): Buying at BDT 143.01 | Selling at BDT 143.21

The stability in official foreign exchange rates follows broader central bank strategies designed to streamline market transactions and support essential import settlements. By aligning interbank rates closely with prevailing supply and demand dynamics, monetary authorities aim to curb unofficial kerb-market premiums and encourage remittance inflows through authorised banking channels.

For commercial businesses, importers, and overseas workers, these published rates serve as the official benchmark for daily conversions, cross-border trade invoices, and personal transfers processed through licensed financial institutions.
