Pakistan’s music landscape continues to witness a striking shift as hip-hop artist Talha Anjum has once again emerged as the country’s most-streamed performer on Spotify, securing the top position for the fifth consecutive year in the platform’s latest five-year “Wrapped” retrospective.
The newly released overview highlights how independent rap and hip-hop have steadily moved from the fringes into the mainstream of Pakistan’s digital music culture. Anjum’s sustained dominance reflects not only his individual popularity but also the broader transformation of listening habits among younger audiences increasingly driven by streaming platforms.
According to Spotify Pakistan’s recent social media disclosure, the list of the country’s most-streamed artists over the period places Talha Anjum at number one, followed by a mix of contemporary pop stars, classical vocal legends, and emerging independent musicians. The rankings underline a rare coexistence of genres, where traditional and modern sounds share equal digital space.

Talha Anjum, widely known for his sharp lyrical delivery and socially conscious storytelling, first rose to prominence as part of the duo Young Stunners alongside Talha Yunus. His music often explores themes such as identity, ambition, emotional struggle, and urban realities, resonating strongly with Pakistan’s youth.
Some of his most recognisable tracks—including Gumaan, Afsanay, Baaz, Downers at Dusk, and Laam—have played a significant role in shaping the modern Urdu rap movement. This year, he further expanded his catalogue with the single 2AM in London, continuing his global stylistic influences.
Spotify’s retrospective also revealed that more than 140 Pakistani artists experienced significant streaming traction over the past year alone, signalling a rapidly diversifying music ecosystem. The data points to increasing engagement across genres, with both mainstream and independent musicians benefiting from digital accessibility.
Meanwhile, established figures such as Atif Aslam, as well as legendary classical icons Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, continue to command substantial streaming audiences, demonstrating enduring cross-generational appeal.
