After more than a month-long hiatus, Bangladesh’s emerging fast bowler Tanzeem Hasan Sakib is gradually making his way back into the national fold. The young pacer has recently impressed spectators and selectors alike with his standout performances for Rajshahi Warriors in the 2026 Bangladesh Premier League, reigniting discussions about his potential recall to the national side.
Sakib had been forced into a mandatory break due to persistent back pain experienced during T20 matches. This injury also prevented him from participating in the ongoing Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) one-day tournament, raising concerns over his match readiness.
Speaking to Dhaka Post, a senior official from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Medical Department confirmed that Sakib has now fully recovered. “His latest scan results are highly positive, and through a carefully structured rehabilitation programme, he is gradually regaining full match fitness,” the official stated. However, it remains uncertain whether he will be completely fit in time for the upcoming Pakistan series.
The Pakistan cricket team is scheduled to tour Bangladesh from 9 March for a three-match One Day International (ODI) series. According to BCB medical sources, Sakib may become available for selection ahead of the series. His potential return is widely regarded as a boost to the national side’s confidence, providing both psychological motivation and tactical flexibility for the young pacer and the team alike.
Sakib’s recent performances highlight his skill and consistency:
| Tournament/Format | Matches | Wickets | Runs | Key Contributions |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bangladesh Premier League 2026 | 10 | 12 | 19 | Played a pivotal role in Rajshahi Warriors’ championship victory |
| ODI & T20 (Previous Year) | 28 | 34 | 191 | Consistent all-round contributions |
Combining domestic success with international experience, Sakib is increasingly seen as a cornerstone of Bangladesh’s bowling attack. Analysts predict that his full fitness could provide the team with more diverse and potent pace options.
Fans and selectors alike are eagerly anticipating his return to the field alongside seasoned campaigners such as Litton Das and Shanto. His presence in the Pakistan series could prove strategically significant, enhancing both the team’s tactical depth and overall energy.
Ultimately, Tanzeem Sakib’s comeback is regarded as a beacon of hope for Bangladesh cricket, ensuring continuity in the squad while deepening its strategic resources. His role in the forthcoming international season carries a promising message for the future of the national team.
