Three Arrested for Gang-Raping Expatriate’s Wife

Police have arrested three individuals in connection with the alleged gang-rape of an expatriate’s wife in Chhotobasantapur village under Sharsha Upazila of Jessore. The arrests were made following a special police operation launched shortly after a formal case was registered on Sunday, naming five local youths as suspects.

The developments were officially confirmed on Monday afternoon through a press release issued by Maruf Hossain, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sharsha Police Station.

Incident Overview and Background

According to police and local sources, the incident transpired on Saturday night. The victim, the wife of an expatriate worker, stepped outside her residence to respond to a call of nature. A group of five men, who were lying in wait nearby, intercepted her. The assailants, including Abdur Rahman Imon and Mehedi Hasan Tutul from the same village, held the woman hostage at knifepoint, threatening her with death to prevent her from raising an alarm.

The perpetrators subsequently forced the victim to an isolated, secluded location, where they proceeded to gang-rape her before fleeing the scene. Following the ordeal, the victim approached the Sharsha Police Station on Sunday and filed a written complaint naming the five individuals involved. The complaint was formally recorded as a regular case under the relevant sections of the law.

Current Status of the Accused

The law enforcement authorities initiated a swift response to locate the suspects. Out of the five individuals accused in the case, three have been apprehended and produced before the court on Monday. Meanwhile, a police operation remains underway to track down and arrest the remaining two suspects who are currently evading law enforcement.
