Tk 276 Crore Transactions Recorded at DSE in Just Two Hours

On the first trading day of the week, Sunday, 5 October, all major indices at the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) showed an upward trend. By 12:00 PM, the number of shares and units whose prices increased was nearly three times higher than those that declined. During this period, the exchange recorded securities transactions worth approximately Tk 276 crore.

Market analysis shows that by midday, the DSEX, the main index of DSE, had risen 47 points to reach 5,463 points compared to the previous day. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) increased by 6 points, reaching 1,178 points, while the DSE-30 Index, composed of 30 selected top-performing companies, gained 13 points to settle at 2,095 points.

Among the 391 listed companies participating in trading during the first two hours, 244 saw their share prices rise, 83 declined, and 64 remained unchanged.

The total value of securities traded at DSE by 12:00 PM stood at Tk 275.5 crore. The most recent trading session before this was on 30 September, during which the first two hours saw transactions worth approximately Tk 315 crore.

On Sunday, the largest contribution in the first two hours came from CVO Petrochemical Refinery PLC, with a total of Tk 12.46 crore in shares traded. In comparison, during the last trading session, Rupali Life Insurance Company Limited led the list with Tk 18.55 crore worth of shares traded in the same period.

Meanwhile, at the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), all indices also rose in the first two hours of trading. The CASPI index increased by 108 points to reach 15,188 points, while the CSCX index rose 61 points to 9,326 points.

During this period, securities of 121 companies were traded at CSE. Of these, 71 shares increased in price, 39 declined, and 11 remained unchanged. The total value of shares and units traded during the first two hours amounted to Tk 2.46 crore, compared to Tk 2.94 crore on the previous trading day.
