The raid took place on Friday at around 4:50 pm on a paved road outside the residence of the late Lehajuddin in the Bara Surundi area of Manikganj Sadar. Acting on intelligence regarding local drug peddling, a team from the Detective Branch (DB) intercepted the two suspects as they moved through the neighbourhood.

Police identified the suspects as Md Raju Miah, 24, son of Baduruddin from Bengrui village in Nabagram Union, and Shishir Miah, 30, son of Nur Islam (alias Nabu Miah) from the Malancha area in Ward No. 4 of Manikganj Municipality.

During a body search conducted at the scene, detectives retrieved 50 Yaba pills from Raju Miah’s possession, while a search of Shishir Miah yielded another 30 pills. Officers promptly seized the illegal methamphetamine-based tablets and took both individuals into police custody.

The operation was conducted under the direct guidance of Manikganj District Superintendent of Police Mohammad Sarwar Alam (BPM-Seba) and overseen by DB In-Charge Inspector Manabendra Balo. Sub-Inspector Abhijit Chowdhury led the tactical team on the ground.

Manikganj DB Police released an official press statement confirming that formal charges are currently being prepared against the suspects. A case under the Narcotics Control Act is being registered at the Manikganj Sadar Police Station. Law enforcement officials reiterated their commitment to dismantling local illicit drug networks, noting that intelligence-led operations across the district will continue to target dealers supplying synthetic drugs to youth in the region.
