Zimbabwe Name Squad for Bangladesh Test Clash

Zimbabwe have announced a 15-member squad for their upcoming one-off Test match against Bangladesh, set to begin on Sunday (28 June) at the Harare Sports Club. The fixture marks a return to red-ball cricket for the hosts following their victory over Afghanistan in October last year, a result that ended a long winless run in the format and offered a timely boost to confidence within the camp.

Fast bowler Richard Ngarava will lead the side as captain. The squad sees several notable returns, including Innocent Kaia, Graeme Cremer, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Wesley Madhevere and Newman Nyamhuri, all of whom were absent from the previous Test against Afghanistan. Their inclusion adds depth and experience across both batting and bowling departments.

However, Zimbabwe will be without key all-rounder Sikandar Raza, who remains unavailable due to county cricket commitments in England. His absence is a significant setback given his influence in all three departments of the game.

The Test also comes against the backdrop of a closely contested recent history between the two sides. The last time Bangladesh and Zimbabwe met in a Test series, in April–May last year, the two-match contest ended evenly poised at 1–1, highlighting the competitive balance between the teams in red-ball cricket.

Bangladesh have also named a 15-member squad featuring a blend of experience and youth, with Najmul Hossain Shanto continuing as captain. The tourists include established figures such as Mushfiqur Rahim and Mominul Haque, alongside emerging players looking to cement their places in the longer format.
