34 Including Tangail Sadar BNP President Arrested During Late-Night Gambling Raid

A joint task force arrested 34 individuals, including the President of Tangail Sadar Upazila BNP, during a late-night gambling session in Tangail.

The arrests took place on Tuesday night (12 August) at the Century Club in the city.

Among those detained was Azgar Ali, President of Tangail Sadar Upazila BNP. During the operation, authorities seized BDT 149,410 in cash along with 16 sets of playing cards. The arrested individuals were handed over to Tangail Sadar Police Station later that night by the military.

Sources revealed that under the leadership of Azgar Ali, the Century Club on Victoria Road in the city had long been hosting gambling sessions, which would continue deep into the night.

Tangail Sadar Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge, Tanvir Ahmed, confirmed that the arrests were carried out following a joint operation. Preparations are underway to file a case at Tangail Sadar Police Station. After formalities, the accused will be presented before the Tangail court.
