Finance Ministry Forms Committee to Investigate Savings Certificate Fraud

The Ministry of Finance has formed an investigation committee to uncover the actual facts behind the embezzlement of funds through fraud in the National Savings Directorate’s NSC (National Savings Certificate) system.

The committee, headed by Md. Hasanul Matin, Additional Secretary (Administration, Planning, and TDM) of the Finance Division, includes Dr. Rowshan Ara Begum, Director General of the National Savings Directorate; Dr. Ziaul Abedin, Additional Secretary of the Finance Division; Mohammad Rashedul Amin, Joint Secretary; an Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank; a Deputy Inspector General (DIG) from the CID; and a Joint Secretary from the Internal Resources Division.

It has been learned that the committee has been asked to submit its investigation report within 10 working days. The report has been instructed to identify the actual causes and those responsible for the incident, recommend appropriate punishment, and propose measures to prevent such frauds in the future.

Recently, an incident of embezzlement through fraudulent use of the National Savings Directorate’s NSC server came to light.
