Stolen Fabergé Locket Recovered Intact

Police have successfully recovered the stolen Fabergé locket that had been swallowed, without any medical intervention, from the stomach of the thief in New Zealand. The report comes from BBC. According to the news, about a week ago, the 32-year-old man attempted to escape after swallowing the locket he had stolen from Patridge Jewellers in central Auckland. The shop staff immediately noticed the situation, and police arrested him on the spot.

According to Fabergé’s website, the locket is adorned with 60 white diamonds and 15 sapphires. Inside, there is a small 18-carat gold octopus figure. The locket, named ‘Octopussy Egg’, was inspired by the famous 1983 James Bond film and is valued at approximately 19,300 US dollars. The recovered locket will be returned to Fabergé, Patridge Jewellers stated.

Formal charges have been filed against the thief. Police confirmed that he remains in custody and is undergoing regular health checks. He is scheduled to appear in court again on 8 December. The charge sheet also states that he is accused of stealing an iPad from the same shop on 12 November, as well as items worth 100 New Zealand dollars, including cat litter and a pest killer, from a house. Fabergé, established in Russia over two centuries ago, is a world-renowned jewellery brand celebrated internationally for its gem-encrusted egg-shaped creations.
