Youth League Leader Murdered in Bhola: Stabbed to Death

In a shocking incident in Bhola, Char Fasson Upazila, the Organisational Secretary of the local Youth League, 45-year-old Abdur Rahim Bhutto, was brutally hacked to death. The attack took place late on Saturday night, 14 February, at around 10:00 pm, on Kalerhat Road in Ward 5 of Nazrulnagar Union.

Abdur Rahim Bhutto was the son of the late Akhtaruzzaman Sohel, a resident of the same area. According to preliminary police assessments, the killing may have been linked to disputes over illicit drug trading in the region.

Sequence of Events

Police reported that unidentified assailants attacked Bhutto with knives and machetes, inflicting severe injuries. Local residents rushed him to the Char Fasson Government Hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival.

“He had already passed away before reaching the hospital,” said Md. Riaz Uddin, the Assistant Community Medical Officer on duty at the emergency department.

Police Response

Shashibhushan Police Station authorities confirmed that an investigation into the motive and perpetrators is underway.
Superintendent of Police Fakhrul Islam stated,

“We are working to identify and apprehend those responsible for this heinous crime as quickly as possible.”
