At least twelve people, including a senior Hezbollah commander, have been killed in a series of Israeli airstrikes across eastern and southern Lebanon. Several others were reported injured, with children among the casualties. According to Israeli authorities, the strikes targeted Hezbollah and its Palestinian ally, Hamas.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that ten people were killed and 24 others wounded in various locations in the Bekaa Valley, including three children. Meanwhile, the National News Agency cited additional casualties in the same region, reporting six dead and 25 injured. Discrepancies between reports highlight the challenges of verifying figures in conflict zones.
A separate strike hours earlier hit one of Lebanon’s largest Palestinian refugee camps. Israeli statements indicated that the operation targeted Hamas infrastructure within the camp.
| Location | Fatalities | Injured | Additional Information |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bekaa Valley | 10 | 24 | Includes three children |
| Southern Lebanon | 2 | 25 | Reported by local media |

Hezbollah confirmed that a high-ranking commander was killed in the Bekaa Valley strikes. The Israeli military stated that the operations aimed at Hezbollah command centres across Lebanon.
Relations between Lebanon and Israel have remained tense since 2014, with intermittent outbreaks of violence. A year-long conflict between Hezbollah and Israel concluded with a ceasefire in November 2024. Despite the truce, Israel continues to conduct periodic airstrikes against select areas in Lebanon, citing security concerns.
Security analysts note that Israel’s recent operations appear intended to curb Hezbollah and Hamas activity near the Lebanese border. Observers also warn that repeated strikes may escalate instability in both eastern and southern Lebanon, where civilian populations are increasingly at risk.
The international community has expressed concern over the latest strikes. The United Nations has urged all parties to reduce tensions and work towards preserving peace in Lebanon. Local residents described the attacks as frightening, highlighting the fear and disruption experienced by communities living near the targeted areas. Experts suggest that continued military activity could further complicate the security situation in the region, raising concerns of broader escalation.
