In a shocking incident in Mohammadpur, Dhaka, the Director of the Anti-Corruption Commission (Investigation and Inquiry-2), Md. Motahar Hossain, fell victim to a violent robbery. The incident occurred late on Saturday, 7 March, near the rear of Residential Model College, leaving him seriously injured and his valuables stolen.

According to police sources, Mr Hossain had been walking in the area when two unidentified assailants approached him. They attempted to seize his belongings, including his mobile phone and a bag containing cash and other valuable items. The mobile device, an iPhone, became a particular focus of the attackers.

When Mr Hossain could not immediately provide the phone’s passcode, the assailants resorted to violence. Reports indicate that he sustained severe injuries to his neck and eyes. Emergency services quickly transported him to the Government Employee Hospital, where he is currently under close medical supervision. Doctors have described his condition as serious but stable, and he is receiving specialised care for his injuries.

SI Selim Reza of Mohammadpur Police Station confirmed the incident to the press, stating, “A robbery took place here last night. A case has been filed, and the police are actively investigating. Measures are being taken to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.”

Authorities have begun reviewing CCTV footage from nearby establishments and are conducting interviews with local residents who may have witnessed the incident.
