Authorities at Jahangirnagar University recovered the body of a student found hanging in his residential hall on Wednesday afternoon. The grim discovery was made around 2:30 pm in room 413 of the Sher-e-Bangla A. K. Fazlul Huq Hall, one of the university’s prominent residential halls.
The deceased has been identified as Arup Ratan Konisk, a student of the Department of Archaeology from the 50th batch. According to university officials, he was a resident of Sher-e-Bangla Hall and originally hailed from Narayanganj.
Initial reports indicate that fellow students alerted hall authorities after failing to locate Arup in the morning. The university’s residential management team immediately informed the campus security and local law enforcement, who arrived promptly at the scene.
Police sources confirmed that preliminary investigations suggest no immediate signs of foul play. However, the final cause of death will be determined after a post-mortem examination.
