The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued a warning forecasting temporary gusty or squally winds accompanied by thunderstorms across 13 regions of the country. The advisory was issued on Sunday (3 May) for inland river ports, covering the period from 5:00 am to 1:00 pm.
According to the forecast, wind speeds may reach between 45 and 60 kilometres per hour, with the possibility of rain or thundershowers occurring in these areas. The affected regions are expected to experience wind flow from the west or north-west direction.
The Meteorological Department has advised that river ports in the affected areas should display Local Warning Signal No. 1 due to the likelihood of adverse weather conditions.

In addition to the inland river port warning, another bulletin issued by the Meteorological Office stated that all divisions of the country may experience temporary gusty or squally winds accompanied by lightning, with light to moderate rain or thundershowers expected until the evening.
The bulletin further indicated that in some places across the country, there is a possibility of moderate to heavy, and in isolated areas, very heavy rainfall. This weather pattern is expected to continue intermittently over the next few days, affecting all divisions.
Authorities have advised caution in river navigation and general outdoor movement during periods of adverse weather conditions, particularly in regions where thunderstorms and strong winds are forecast.
The combination of gusty winds, lightning activity, and rainfall may temporarily disrupt normal activities in affected areas, especially in riverine and coastal zones. River transport operators and those engaged in outdoor work are advised to remain alert to updated weather bulletins issued by the Meteorological Department.
