The operation, led by BGB-48 Sylhet Battalion, covered several border areas including Pratappur, Sangram, Panthumai, Tamabil, Sonarhat, Kalairag, and Banglabazar, and resulted in the seizure of a wide range of contraband items.

In addition to consumer goods, the seizure of easy bikes and Bangladeshi boats highlights the growing use of transportation methods to facilitate illegal stone mining and other cross-border activities.

Statement from BGB Commander:

Lieutenant Colonel Haque explained that BGB’s operational and intelligence activities are being carried out with full intensity to enhance security and combat smuggling in the region. He emphasised the importance of vigilant surveillance and coordinated efforts to prevent such illegal activities at the border.

Continued Efforts to Combat Smuggling

The BGB continues to play a pivotal role in safeguarding the country’s borders, ensuring that smuggling operations are detected and thwarted at every possible point. These continuous drives underscore the BGB’s commitment to maintaining security and integrity along the country’s borders, particularly in areas with high trafficking and smuggling activity.

As border security operations intensify, the authorities are focusing on curbing smuggling of all forms of illegal goods, including consumer items, vehicles, and contraband materials that could have detrimental effects on the local economy and public safety
