Case Background: The Murder of Sohag

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the murder took place on 9 July near the gates of Mitford Hospital in Old Dhaka. The victim, Lal Chand alias Md Sohag, aged 39, was the son of Yusuf Ali Howlader, a resident of Purbo Namabari village in Keraniganj.

Sohag had been operating a scrap business on Rani Ghosh Lane in Old Dhaka for many years. His elder sister filed the murder case at Kotwali Police Station, while police filed a separate arms case in connection with the incident.

The killing has shocked the local business community, given its public and violent nature. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the conspiracy and identify any additional suspects involved.
