At Least 19 Killed in Gaza Following Trump Peace Declaration

A fresh surge of military action across the Gaza Strip has left at least 19 Palestinians dead, marking the highest single-day casualty figure in recent weeks. The escalation follows hard on the heels of an announcement by US President Donald Trump outlining a multi-phase peace and security plan intended to bring stability to the devastated enclave.

According to reporting by Al Jazeera and confirmed by local healthcare providers, the lethal strikes spanned multiple sectors of the territory from dawn onwards. Medical authorities at Al-Shifa Hospital reported that an airstrike hit a residential apartment in western Gaza’s Al-Susi Tower, killing three members of one family: Abdullah Abu Taif, 33; his 29-year-old pregnant wife, Abir Anan; and their five-year-old son, Azzam.

Further heavy casualties were recorded across central and southern Gaza. In the Al-Karara district, north-west of Khan Younis, an attack on an apartment killed 38-year-old Mahmoud Al-Hams, his wife Fatima, 37, and their young daughter. Nasser Hospital officials confirmed that three other individuals were severely wounded in the same operation. Near Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, 68-year-old Kamu Abu Muaylik and his 59-year-old wife Huda died when their home was bombed, while two brothers were killed in a separate strike whilst travelling by motorcycle. Additional fatalities were logged in the Jabalia refugee camp, a drone strike on a tent sheltering displaced civilians in Gaza City’s Rimal district, and a targeted strike on a vehicle.

The escalation has drawn fierce condemnation from health officials over the deliberate targetting of critical medical infrastructure. Strikes on Saturday struck essential pharmaceutical warehouses next to the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah. Dr Munir Al-Bursh, Director General of the Gaza Ministry of Health, stated that Israel was effectively “weaponising medicine and illness” by dismantling supply networks. The ministry noted that two facilities were entirely destroyed and two others sustained severe structural damage.

This round of violence erupted shortly after President Trump, alongside the International Stabilisation Force and the Board of Peace, announced a framework to move Gaza into its next post-conflict phase. While the Board confirmed that Hamas had formally accepted the detailed framework, Israeli officials have maintained silence and refrained from issuing an official response. Gaza’s health authority reports that since the truce mediated by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States was signed in October 2025, at least 1,222 Palestinians have been killed and over 4,053 wounded.
