Operating under the jurisdiction of the Sylhet Battalion (48 BGB), members of the border force launched coordinated intelligence-driven operations in the early hours of Sunday. The strategic ambushes and sweeps were carried out across several sensitive border outposts, including the Banglabazar, Tamabil, Sangram, Pratapapur, Sonarhat, and Kalairag BOP areas. Security personnel caught smugglers off guard, seizing a diverse array of contraband items being trafficked illegally into and out of the country.

The recovered inventory comprised a wide assortment of high-value foreign goods. Confiscated items originating from across the border included Indian cattle, traditional saris, cumin seeds, various cosmetics, confectionery chocolates, and winter blankets. Additionally, security personnel intercepted outbound shipments of locally produced garments—such as T-shirts, sweaters, and denim trousers—that were being illicitly smuggled out of Bangladesh. According to official estimates released by the battalion, the total cumulative seizure value of these goods stands precisely at Tk 1,86,18,230.

Addressing the media through a formal press release on Sunday afternoon, Sylhet Battalion (48 BGB) Captain Lieutenant Colonel Md Nazmul Haque confirmed the details of the operation. He emphasized that the border force maintains an unyielding stance against transnational crime. Intelligence surveillance and operational patrols remain fully active along the frontier to safeguard national security, prevent cross-border smuggling, and eradicate drug trafficking networks operating within the region. The seized items will be processed in accordance with standard legal procedures, while security forces continue monitoring vulnerable crossing points to deter future smuggling attempts.
