In a move aimed at improving payment accessibility for rural consumers, Citizens Bank PLC has signed a strategic agreement with the Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB) to facilitate nationwide electricity bill collection. The signing ceremony took place at BREB’s Head Office in Nikunja-2, Dhaka, bringing together senior officials from both organisations.
The agreement was executed by Mr. Md. Mostafizur Rahman, Deputy Managing Director of Citizens Bank PLC, and Mr. Md. Masud Parvez, Director (Finance), Directorate of Financial Monitoring (Northern Region) of BREB. The event was witnessed by Mr. Alamgir Hossain, Managing Director of Citizens Bank, and Dr. Najmus Sayadat, Member (Finance) of BREB, alongside other senior representatives including Mr. Md. Under the agreement, Citizens Bank PLC will utilise its extensive network of branches and sub-branches to collect electricity bills for Palli Bidyut Samities operating under BREB. Officials highlighted that the partnership strengthens financial outreach in remote communities. Consumers will now be able to pay electricity bills conveniently at their nearest Citizens Bank branch, reducing the need to travel long distances to BREB offices.
