A harrowing incident has come to light in Bogra’s Sherpur Upazila, where a 13-year-old madrasa student was abducted, stripped, and forcibly shaved following a trivial disagreement over a badminton match. The victim, identified as Mahmudul Hasan, a seventh-grade pupil at the local Sherpur Shahidiya Aliya Kamil Madrasa, was reportedly targeted by a group of youths in a calculated act of humiliation.
The ordeal began on the afternoon of 6 March, when a dispute erupted during a game of badminton. According to the case statement filed by the victim’s father, Johurul Islam, the confrontation escalated quickly. Hasan was intercepted by several young men in the Taltala area of the town and forcibly taken to a residence in the Khondokartola neighbourhood, belonging to one Shamshul Huq Munshi.
Inside the premises, the teenage boy was subjected to a brutal assault. The attackers reportedly:
Abducted him from a public space to a private residence.
Stripped him naked to inflict maximum psychological distress.
Physically assaulted him repeatedly.
Forcibly shaved his head as a final mark of indignity.
Following the ordeal, the young boy fell seriously ill due to the trauma and physical injuries sustained during the attack. He has since been receiving medical treatment locally.
In response to the formal complaint lodged on Wednesday, 11 March, the Sherpur Police moved swiftly to initiate a criminal case against six named individuals. Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ibrahim Ali confirmed that one of the primary suspects was apprehended shortly after the case was filed.
The arrested individual, Motaleb Alvi, 19, is the second accused in the First Information Report (FIR). Originally hailing from Rayganj in Sirajganj, Alvi had been residing with relatives in Sherpur while operating an online clothing business. He was produced before a Bogra court on Wednesday afternoon and subsequently remanded to district jail.
