Dhaka Bank PLC, in collaboration with Mastercard, officially launched Bangladesh’s first-ever youth-centric dual currency prepaid card, branded as “Spark”, on Monday, 24 November 2025 at a grand event held at a hotel in Gulshan.
The Spark Card is designed to empower Bangladesh’s young and digitally active generation. It combines advanced financial capabilities with premium lifestyle benefits covering travel, dining, education, fashion, and technology privileges both locally and internationally.
The launch event was attended by distinguished guests, including Md. Mostaque Ahmed, Deputy Managing Director, Dhaka Bank PLC; H.M. Mostafizur Rahaman, SEVP & Head of Retail Business Division; Professor Dr. Abdur Rab, Vice Chancellor, IUBAT; Professor Dr. Saiful Islam, Vice Chancellor, AIUB; Professor Daniel W. Lund, Pro-Vice Chancellor, IUB; Dr. Ahmed Tazmeen, Registrar, NSU; Professor Sarwar Uddin Ahmed, Dean, ULAB School of Business; Gautam Aggarwal, President – South Asia, Mastercard; Syed Mohammad Kamal, Country Manager, Mastercard Bangladesh; and Zakia Sultana, Director, Mastercard Bangladesh. Senior officials from both organisations were also present.
Over 100 students from seven leading private universities—including NSU, IUB, IUBAT, UIU, AIUB, BRAC University, and ULAB—attended the ceremony.
The event also featured a panel discussion on “Digital Inclusion for the Youth of Bangladesh,” highlighting challenges and opportunities in the country’s evolving digital ecosystem and stressing the importance of secure financial innovation, educational financing, and increased digital access.
Md. Mostaque Ahmed said, “With ‘Spark’, we are introducing a product that resonates with the energy, aspirations, and global outlook of Bangladesh’s youth. This reflects Dhaka Bank’s commitment to expanding financial access and enhancing lifestyle convenience both at home and abroad.”
