Dhaka Division took full command of their NCL fixture with a monumental batting display, scoring 541 for 6 declared before tearing apart Chattogram’s top order. Their innings contained three magnificent centuries, establishing complete dominance over a shell-shocked Chattogram side.
Anisul Islam’s innings was the talk of Mirpur. Starting the day on 183, the young opener looked poised to secure his maiden double century. But cricket can be cruel. Only three runs were added before Hasan Mahmud produced a sharp delivery that forced Anisul to edge to the keeper. His 186-run knock, however, was a pivotal contribution—setting the tone for Dhaka’s imposing total.
Marshall Ayub provided the perfect anchor. The veteran batter had already crossed three figures on day one and showed his trademark composure as he pushed the scoreline further. His 165 was a polished display of timing and footwork, helping Dhaka dominate the middle session. His dismissal to spinner Hasan Murad ended a majestic innings.
Ashiqur Rahman added the final flourish. Forced off the pitch due to injury on day one, he returned with iron-willed determination. His unbeaten 100 was crafted with patience and strategic stroke-play, ensuring Dhaka reached an insurmountable total before declaring.
Chattogram’s response unravelled disastrously. Dhaka’s pacers operated with fire and precision, ripping through the top order. The pressure of the scoreboard, the movement off the pitch and the relentless probing lines left Chattogram gasping at 23 for 4. Yasir Ali and Irfan Sukkur attempted a rescue act with a gritty 61-run stand, but Dhaka struck twice within minutes to leave them in tatters at 94 for 6. Suman Khan claimed 3 wickets, Ripon Mondol 2 and Salauddin Shakil 1.
In parallel matches, Rajshahi all but dashed Mymensingh’s title hopes with a dominant display in Sylhet. Mymensingh were skittled for just 137, thanks to a sensational spell from left-arm spinner Sanjamul, who picked up 5 wickets in just over 5 overs. Rajshahi extended their overall lead to 292 runs by closing on 210 for 6 in their second innings.
In Bogura, the clash between contenders Khulna and Rangpur remained gripping. Khulna’s pacer Safar Ali delivered a match-shaping five-wicket haul to bowl Rangpur out for 174. Although Khulna stumbled early in their second innings, losing five wickets for 41, they still secured a significant lead of 175 by the day’s end.
Meanwhile in Rajshahi, Sylhet captain Zakir Hasan produced one of the standout knocks of the season. After Barishal’s total of 312, Sylhet collapsed early to 47 for 4. Zakir then rebuilt with remarkable assurance. His unbeaten 130 not only lifted Sylhet to 214 for 5 but also marked his 16th first-class century and his crossing of the 6,000-run milestone.
