Dhaka – A group of supporters of former cricketer and ex-MP Shakib Al Hasan created a commotion at the office of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Thursday, lodging a corruption allegation against former Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud. The incident took place at the ACC’s Segunbagicha headquarters around midday.

According to ACC sources, approximately 20–30 individuals gathered outside the office, chanting slogans in support of Shakib Al Hasan. The group later entered the premises and demanded that a written complaint against Asif Mahmud be formally accepted.

Officials reported that the demonstrators exerted considerable pressure on staff, disrupting routine operations and creating a tense situation. To avoid a major confrontation, the ACC’s concerned department reluctantly accepted the submission of the complaint.

A senior ACC official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told reporters, “A group forcibly created a disturbance inside our office, compelling officials to receive the complaint. However, its submission under duress does not automatically trigger an investigation.”

The complaint, filed anonymously, has been placed under observation. The official added, “Every allegation submitted to the ACC does not immediately lead to a formal investigation or legal action. We will verify the information according to the law. If the complaint lacks concrete evidence or credibility, it will be dismissed outright.”

The ACC confirmed that, should the complaint meet legal standards and provide verifiable information, the normal process of investigation will follow.
