A devastating fire broke out at the bus stand area in Singair Upazila of Manikganj district, completely destroying four commercial establishments. Despite the rapid spread of the flames, no casualties or injuries were recorded during the incident. The fire occurred at approximately 12:30 am on Thursday, 4 June 2026. According to sources from the local fire service and eyewitnesses on the scene, the blaze originated at a confectionery and sweet shop known locally as “Kalachan Mishthi Dokan”. Due to the presence of flammable materials, the flames spread within moments to three adjacent commercial structures: a grocery shop, a mobile recharging kiosk, and a general confectionery outlet.

Upon receiving information about the blaze, the Singair Fire Service promptly dispatched two operational units to the location to commence firefighting operations. Local residents also mobilized to assist the emergency personnel in extinguishing the flames. Following a coordinated effort that lasted approximately 40 minutes, the joint teams managed to bring the fire entirely under control, preventing further spread to the wider commercial area.

Although the swift intervention prevented the fire from engulfing more properties, the four affected shops suffered extensive structural and material damage. Md Mohibur Rahman, the Station Officer of the Singair Fire Service, confirmed the timeline of the emergency response, stating that two firefighting units were deployed immediately upon receiving the emergency call. He verified that with the active cooperation of the local populace, the flames were successfully suppressed within 40 minutes.

Station Officer Rahman further noted that preliminary technical investigations suggest the fire was caused by an electrical short-circuit. While the initial fiscal loss across the four shops has been assessed at approximately BDT 12 lakh, the official clarified that a definitive financial valuation will only be determined upon the completion of a thorough, formal investigation into the incident.
