The victim was identified as Rajan, the seven-year-old son of Mofazzal Hossain, a resident of Charbhelamari. Law enforcement authorities confirmed that the accused teenager, Tohsin Hridoy, 14, is a neighbour and the son of Abu Bakkar Siddique from the same locality.

According to police sources and local eyewitnesses, Hridoy spotted young Rajan playing alone near his residence on Thursday morning. Enticing the child with the promise of picking olives from a nearby tree, Hridoy lured the victim into his house. Once inside, the suspect gagged the child and attempted to assault him.

When Rajan began screaming for help in self-defence, Hridoy used an iron crowbar to strike him repeatedly on the neck and back. The severe physical trauma inflicted by the metal tool caused excessive bleeding, killing the seven-year-old on the spot. In an effort to conceal the crime, Hridoy dumped the child’s lifeless body into a pit inside the outdoor latrine behind his house.

Alarmed by Rajan’s prolonged absence, his family members and neighbours launched a search across the village. Suspicion fell upon Hridoy after locals noticed his erratic and suspicious behaviour. Upon being confronted and subjected to intense questioning by community members, Hridoy confessed to committing the murder and revealed the location where he had hidden the body.

Outraged by the revelation, local residents assaulted the teenager before handing him over to arriving law enforcement officers. Police recovered the bloody corpse of the young boy from the latrine pit and sent the body to the Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Confirming the details of the crime, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nandail Police Station, Md Azharul Islam, stated that police officers acted promptly to control the situation and rescue the suspect from the mob. The officer added that Hridoy admitted to his involvement in the killing during preliminary interrogation, and legal proceedings to file a murder case by the victim’s family are currently underway.
