South Korean K-pop group ENHYPEN will continue its activities as a six-member act following the departure of founding member Heeseung, the group’s management agency BELIFT LAB confirmed on Tuesday, 10 March. The announcement was delivered through a formal statement shared across the group’s official communication channels.

According to the agency, the decision emerged after extensive discussions involving the artist, the remaining members and management about the future direction of the group and Heeseung’s personal artistic ambitions. The company explained that during these conversations it became clear the singer wished to pursue a distinct musical vision that could be better realised through a solo career.

In its statement, BELIFT LAB noted that although Heeseung will step away from group activities, he will remain under contract with the label. The agency is currently supporting him as he prepares to debut as a solo artist. While the label did not provide a timeline for the project, it confirmed that Heeseung has already begun work on a solo album.

Meanwhile, the remaining members—Jake, Jay, Sunghoon, Sunoo, Jungwon and Ni-ki—will continue promoting under the ENHYPEN name. The agency did not announce any immediate plans regarding upcoming albums, concerts or international tours, though industry observers expect the group to maintain its global promotional schedule given its strong international following.

Following the announcement, Heeseung addressed fans—collectively known as ENGENE—through a heartfelt message. He expressed gratitude to both his fellow members and the group’s supporters for their encouragement since his debut.

He wrote that the journey with ENHYPEN allowed him to move steadily towards dreams that once seemed distant. The singer added that he is currently working diligently on new music so he can meet fans again soon through his solo work.

Heeseung first rose to prominence through the survival audition programme I-LAND, which aired in 2020 and produced the lineup of ENHYPEN. After securing a place in the final group, he debuted in November 2020 with the mini-album Border: Day One. The release marked the beginning of the group’s rapid rise in the global K-pop industry.

Over the past few years, ENHYPEN has built a strong international reputation through multiple charting albums, sold-out concerts and an expanding fanbase across Asia, North America and Europe. Heeseung’s departure represents the first change to the group’s lineup since its formation.

Below is a summary of the group’s current status following the announcement:

Industry analysts suggest that while lineup changes can challenge a group’s dynamic, they may also create opportunities for both the remaining members and departing artists to explore new creative directions. For ENHYPEN, the coming months will likely determine how the group evolves musically as a six-member act, while fans await further details about Heeseung’s forthcoming solo debut.
