Jamaat Leader Caught Sending Lewd Messages to Student’s Mother!

Published: 08 Dec 2025, 03:58 am

A local leader of Jamaat-e-Islami in Bangladesh has been expelled from his organisational post after a series of allegations involving sexual misconduct, harassment, and misuse of false identities were proven in an internal investigation. The accused, Md Nurullah, had been serving as the president of the Ranapasha Union unit of Jamaat and was also employed as a teacher at an independent Ibtedayi madrasa in Krishnakathi, Jhalakathi Sadar.

According to party sources and locals, the scandal first came to public attention a few months ago when an inappropriate video call clip involving an unknown woman began circulating widely on social media platforms. The clip showed Nurullah engaging in a compromising conversation, leading to immediate public outcry and questions surrounding his conduct as both a teacher and a political figure.

Locals from the Krishnakathi area reported that this was not an isolated incident. While working at the madrasa, Nurullah was regularly accused of sending indecent proposals and sexually suggestive messages to the mother of one of his students. The victim’s family confronted him when the matter became known within the community. Tensions escalated, and the student’s relatives reportedly subjected Nurullah to physical assault after discovering explicit messages on the woman’s mobile phone.

The series of allegations prompted the Jhalakathi district and Nolchhiti upazila units of Jamaat-e-Islami to form a joint inquiry committee. The committee interviewed witnesses, reviewed the evidence, and examined Nurullah’s past conduct. Their findings confirmed multiple violations: harassment of women, moral misconduct, abuse of authority as a teacher, and serious breaches of party discipline.

Based on the investigation report, Jamaat-e-Islami immediately suspended him from his organisational responsibilities. The leadership emphasised that the party does not tolerate behaviour that contradicts its moral standards. Jhalakathi district Jamaat secretary Md Faridul Haque stated, “Jamaat-e-Islami will not condone any action that goes against moral principles or organisational discipline. The allegations against him were proven, and therefore his position has been suspended.”

Attempts to contact Nurullah for his comments were unsuccessful. Despite repeated phone calls following the release of the investigation report, he did not answer or respond in any manner.

Residents of Tentulbariya village, where Nurullah grew up as the son of local cleric Maulana Amzad Hossain, expressed mixed reactions. Some said his conduct had long been questionable, while others were shocked to learn the extent of the allegations. Many parents in the area voiced concern about his role as a madrasa teacher, questioning how such actions could be allowed to persist unchecked for so long.

The madrasa authorities have also taken notice of the allegations. Discussions are underway regarding additional disciplinary measures, including the possibility of his dismissal from teaching.

The scandal has sparked broader discussions about accountability within local religious institutions, highlighting the need for stronger oversight mechanisms to protect vulnerable individuals—especially women and children—from misuse of authority by teachers or religious figures.
