Jaya Ahsan Speaks Openly on On-Screen Romance and Cinema

Popular actress Jaya Ahsan, a celebrated star across both Bangladesh and West Bengal, recently shared candid insights into her professional relationships, personal friendships, and her screen chemistry with leading male co-stars. During a promotional interview with Anandabazar, the actress spoke about the delicate balance between deep off-screen camaraderie and romantic acting, singling out frequent co-star Abir Chatterjee.

Her recent Bengali film Aro Ardhangini, directed by Kaushik Ganguly, continues its successful theatrical run in Kolkata to warm audience reviews. Whilst engaging in a promotional media circuit for the film, Jaya took part in a rapid-fire interview session. Upon drawing a slip bearing Abir Chatterjee’s name from a box, she paused briefly before speaking about their enduring professional and personal relationship.

Describing Abir as a cherished friend and preferred co-star, Jaya emphasized the profound comfort level they share on set. The duo has delivered widely acclaimed performances in notable films such as Bishorjan, Bijoya, and Putul Nacher Itikatha. Their natural on-screen chemistry has long charmed audiences across the Bengali-speaking world, built upon years of shared projects in Tollywood and a reputation for smooth collaboration.

However, Jaya acknowledged that an extraordinarily close friendship can occasionally pose unique challenges during filming. She explained that their extreme familiarity sometimes makes intimate or romantic scenes difficult to execute, as the sheer depth of their platonic bond makes genuine romantic expression feel awkward on camera. She noted that Abir is a balanced, unpretentious individual who manages his professional career and family life with equal grace—qualities that have firmly cemented their trust over time.

Beyond her work with Abir, the actress also offered warm reflections on prominent Bangladeshi actors Mosharraf Karim and Chanchal Chowdhury. Expressing deep admiration for Mosharraf Karim, she described him as a performing artist with true magic in his craft. Although the two have shared the screen on only a few occasions, Jaya remains an avid viewer of his work, praising his effortless character portrayals.

When discussing Chanchal Chowdhury, Jaya affectionately described him as a close friend while lightheartedly teasing his relaxed lifestyle. She mentioned her ongoing, playful attempts to persuade him to join her for regular workout sessions at the gym.

When the conversation shifted toward personal relationships and the concept of extramarital affairs, Jaya offered a direct and unvarnished perspective.
