Thousands of Bangladeshi expatriates gathered in Lisbon for an electric cultural showcase featuring legendary rock star James and film actor Zayed Khan. Organised by Casa do Bangladesh alongside local media platform Noticias Bangla, the marathon celebration turned the Portuguese capital into a lively hub of Bengali music and heritage. Directed by Roni Hossain, the event offered expatriates a cherished touch of home in the homeland of football icon Cristiano Ronaldo.

The festivities kicked off at 5:00 pm local time on Sunday, stretching past midnight as more than seven hours of non-stop entertainment unfolded. Attended by a capacity crowd, the gathering quickly evolved into a landmark reunion for the expanding Bangladeshi community living across Portugal and the wider Iberian region.

Taking to the stage to deafening applause, Faruq Mahfud Hannan, affectionately known as James or “Nagar Baul”, delivered a commanding performance. The pioneer of Bengali rock captivated fans with his timeless catalogue, belting out anthemic tracks that had the audience singing in unison. His signature gritty vocals and raw stage energy struck a chord with attendees, many of whom had journeyed from surrounding municipalities to catch the rare performance.
