Model Alleges Gunpoint Torture as Ashian Group Refutes Misconduct Charges

Model and actress Snigdha Chowdhury, also known as Ishrat Jahan, has filed a formal complaint at Khilkhet Police Station in Dhaka, alleging attempted murder, physical torture, and sexual harassment against Nazrul Islam Bhuiyan, chairman of the Ashian Group. The written complaint was submitted late on Sunday night following a horrific ordeal that allegedly unfolded on the premises of Ashian Medical College.

According to the statement, Snigdha was invited to the medical college campus in Khilkhet on Friday under the guise of finalizing a contract for a commercial advertisement. However, upon her arrival, the situation turned violent. The chairman allegedly mistook her for an individual named Zeba Takiya, accusing her of embezzling 15 million Bangladeshi Taka.

Snigdha recounted that despite her repeated pleas clarifying her true identity, the chairman refused to listen. She alleged that Nazrul Islam Bhuiyan aimed a shotgun at her, bound her limbs, choked her, and beat her repeatedly with a wooden stick. The complaint further details how her hair was violently pulled and how she was forcibly administered an intoxicating substance while restrained. She managed to flee the premises at approximately 11:30 pm when the accused stepped into an adjoining room, after which she sought emergency treatment at Kurmitola General Hospital.

The Ashian Group has vehemently denied all accusations. In an official statement, Syed Shafiqul Islam, General Manager of Media and Communications for the conglomerate, dismissed the allegations as completely fabricated, baseless, and motivated by ulterior agendas. He underscored that the matter remains subject to legal review and expressed confidence that an impartial inquiry would uncover the truth.

The corporate statement also cautioned against circulating unverified, one-sided narratives that risk misleading the public while legal proceedings are ongoing. Ashian Group urged media organizations to maintain journalistic integrity and verify facts from all parties involved, adding that the judicial process would ultimately clarify the situation.

Speaking at a press conference held at her Banani residence on Monday afternoon, a visibly distressed Snigdha detailed her experience to reporters and demanded immediate legal action against the Ashian Group chief. Overwhelmed with emotion, she warned that if she is denied justice, she will take her own life, leaving behind a note naming those responsible for her plight.

Police officials at Khilkhet Police Station confirmed receipt of the complaint, stating that preliminary enquiries have commenced. Investigators are currently working to cross-check the timeline, inspect relevant CCTV footage, and examine medical documentation from Kurmitola General Hospital before determining further legal steps.
