The announcement of the official schedule for the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Board of Directors elections has sparked intense discussion within the country’s cricketing fraternity. According to the finalised schedule proclaimed last Saturday, the highly anticipated BCB elections are set to take place on 7 June. The deadline for submitting councillor nominations to the BCB concluded at 5:00 pm on the day the schedule was announced.
Reliable sources have confirmed that out of a total of 192 councillor posts within the BCB, 184 councillor forms were successfully submitted prior to the deadline. Several vital organisations and district sports associations failed to send in names before the deadline, resulting in eight councillor positions remaining vacant for the upcoming electoral proceedings.
The primary talking point of the newly published councillor list is the notable absence of several heavyweight candidates. Multiple individuals whose participation had been a subject of intense speculation within cricket circles failed to secure councillor status from Dhaka-based clubs.
Crucially, influential figures such as Farique Ahmed, Iftekhar Rahman Mithu, and Mahbub Anam are missing from the final list. Furthermore, Istiaque Sadeque and Lokman Hossain did not find placement on the councillor lists of their respective clubs. Consequently, these high-profile individuals have officially lost the opportunity to contest the upcoming BCB elections directly.
In contrast, numerous prominent and established personalities from various clubs in Dhaka have secured their councillor positions. The following table provides a comprehensive overview of the representatives nominated by Dhaka clubs to the BCB:

In addition to these players, five former national captains have registered as councillors for the upcoming session:

The representation extends into higher education, with several public universities sending delegates to the BCB. The nominated academic councillors are:
Dhaka University: Shahadat Hossain

Chittagong University: Sirajuddin Alamgir
Rajshahi University: Jahid Hossain
Simultaneously, the National Sports Council (NSC) has finalised and submitted five councillor names to the board. The NSC delegates are Kabir Khan, Ruhul Amin, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Salauddin Haider, and Jahid Parvez Chowdhury.
The regional representation has also been cemented by divisional sports associations across the country. The confirmed councillors representing the respective divisions are:
