Massive Crowd at Shreya Ghoshal’s Concert, Two Faint

A large crowd at Shreya Ghoshal’s concert in Cuttack, Odisha, led to chaos and pushing, resulting in two people fainting, according to local police. The incident occurred on Thursday night during the singer’s performance.

The commotion happened near a barricade set up between the stage and the audience. Thousands of fans had gathered well before the concert began to catch a glimpse of the popular Bollywood singer. Eyewitnesses reported that the crowd became restless even before the concert started, and two people, including one woman, lost consciousness. They were initially treated at a first aid centre before being transferred to a nearby hospital for further medical attention.

To regain control of the situation, the police and event organisers quickly deployed additional security personnel. The Additional Police Commissioner also arrived at the scene to assess the situation.

Several local media outlets have reported that when part of the crowd became uncontrollable, the police resorted to light baton charging. This led to several individuals fainting, requiring immediate medical care. However, no serious injuries have been reported. There were indications that crowd control measures could have been better managed.

Police Commissioner S. Dev Datt Singh told the news agency PTI, “No untoward incident occurred. The crowd was indeed massive, but we were able to control it. One person suffered a minor injury, but they are stable.”

The concert was part of the Bali Yatra Festival, which took place from November 5 to 13. The festival, celebrating Odisha’s maritime heritage with events such as the Boita Bandana ceremony, cultural performances, trade fairs, and celebrity appearances, drew millions of visitors.
