Missing Schoolgirl Murdered and Buried Beneath Floorboards in Jamalpur

Police in Jamalpur have revealed horrifying details behind the murder of a seven-year-old girl, whose body was discovered buried beneath the floor of a neighbour’s home days after she went missing.

The primary school pupil vanished on Thursday morning after leaving for classes at a local government primary school. Police investigations have now established that the youngster had visited her classmate’s house shortly after school hours to play, as she frequently did. Finding himself alone in the dwelling after his wife and children left to visit relatives, the girl’s classmate’s father, 32-year-old Jaminur Islam, targeted the child. He subjected the victim to a brutal assault before strangling her with a scarf and digging a hole in his bedroom floor to conceal her remains beneath the dirt.

A search launched by worried family members ended on Saturday night when police raided Jaminur’s residence in Madarganj Upazila, discovering the child’s buried body beneath the earth inside his room. Law enforcement officers promptly arrested Jaminur alongside his 25-year-old wife, Sabuja. The victim’s father formally filed a murder case with Madarganj Police Station on Sunday, leading to both suspects being presented before the court and subsequently remanded into custody.

Detailing the case during a press conference on Sunday night, Assistant Superintendent of Police (Madarganj Circle) Mostafizur Rahman stated that Jaminur had provided a full confessory statement in court, outlining the sequence of events. The senior officer explained that the suspect took advantage of his family’s absence to commit the crime and subsequently attempted to cover up the death by hiding the body inside his own house.

The tragic incident has sparked severe outrage across the local community, leaving residents deeply unnerved by the vulnerability of young children in rural neighbourhoods. Speaking on the matter, the victim’s uncle expressed deep anguish over the sheer brutality inflicted on such an innocent child, demanding swift legal action to ensure the perpetrator receives the maximum punishment prescribed by law.

Local authorities confirmed that physical evidence has been gathered from the crime scene, and the victim’s body was sent to the hospital morgue for a full post-mortem examination to assist the ongoing prosecution. Legal proceedings are advancing rapidly as investigators compile the final charge sheet.
