Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman made an eye-catching debut in the International League T20 for Dubai Capitals, demonstrating his expertise with the ball and in the field. He claimed two wickets and took two catches, signalling a bright start, though the Capitals succumbed to Gulf Giants by four wickets.

Dubai Capitals batted first, reaching a total of 160 runs. In reply, Gulf Giants achieved the target with 7 balls to spare. Mustafizur struck immediately, dismissing opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz with the first ball of his spell. His precise bowling and tight lines kept runs down, with his first over conceding just 11 runs.

A chance to claim another wicket fell when James Vince edged a ball, but the catch was dropped at backward point, allowing Vince to go on and score an unbeaten fifty. Mustafizur returned in the 12th over to claim the wicket of Patum Nishanka, who had been threatening the Capitals’ bowlers. He finished his spell with excellent economy, giving only 26 runs in four overs.

Despite Mustafizur’s brilliance, Gulf Giants made the chase look easy. Patum Nishanka’s 67 off 31 balls earned him the Player of the Match accolade and helped his side secure a second consecutive win, placing them at the top of the table.

Dubai Capitals, meanwhile, have now lost both of their opening games. Mustafizur’s debut, however, confirms his reputation as a world-class T20 bowler whose skill can create opportunities even in challenging matches. Fans will be eager to see him continue to perform in the tournament, hoping he can lead his side to future victories.
