In an unexpected turn of events, the highly anticipated written examination for the position of Senior Officer at Bangladesh Bank, scheduled for Friday, has been officially postponed. The decision came from the Secretary’s Office of the Bankers’ Selection Committee (BSCS), citing unavoidable circumstances as the reason for the disruption.
The announcement was made public on Friday, 19 December, through an official statement released by Bangladesh Bank. The statement clarified that the examination, which was to be held under Job ID-10220, will no longer take place at the previously scheduled time. Candidates who had been preparing diligently for months were taken by surprise, as the sudden postponement left many scrambling for information.
“The Senior Officer written test, originally scheduled for today, has been postponed due to unavoidable reasons,” the official notice read. It further reassured candidates that a new date for the examination will be communicated in due course. However, the statement did not specify a potential timeframe for the rescheduled test, leaving applicants uncertain about their next steps.
This postponement has sparked a wave of concern among candidates nationwide, many of whom had cleared multiple rounds of preliminary selection and were eagerly awaiting this crucial phase. Social media platforms and student forums have been flooded with discussions, questions, and expressions of frustration regarding the sudden change.
Education analysts note that such unexpected postponements, while sometimes necessary, can have significant impacts on the mental preparedness and planning of candidates. Some aspirants have reportedly adjusted travel and accommodation plans in anticipation of the original exam date, only to find themselves facing additional logistical and financial challenges.
Bangladesh Bank has urged candidates to remain patient and to avoid relying on unofficial sources for updates. They emphasized that all future announcements regarding the exam schedule will be released through official channels to ensure clarity and transparency.
The Bankers’ Selection Committee has previously conducted numerous exams for banking positions across the country. However, postponements of this nature remain rare, making this development particularly noteworthy. The decision underscores the Committee’s commitment to maintaining procedural integrity and ensuring a fair examination process despite the inconvenience caused to candidates.
