In an electrifying finale at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar, Morocco emerged victorious in the Arab Cup, edging past Jordan with a dramatic 3-2 win on Thursday night. The match, filled with relentless action and breathtaking moments, kept fans on the edge of their seats until the very last whistle.
Morocco struck first, setting the tone in the fourth minute. Tannane unleashed a powerful shot from 35 yards, finding the back of the net and sending the Moroccan fans into a frenzy. Eight minutes later, Karim El Berkawi’s fierce attempt from outside the box was expertly saved by Jordan’s goalkeeper, denying the visitors an immediate doubling of their lead.
Jordan responded fiercely, and in the 33rd minute, they earned their first significant chance. Husam Abu Al Dahab’s header forced Morocco’s goalkeeper, Mehdi Benabid, into a spectacular save, maintaining Morocco’s narrow lead. After the interval, Jordan quickly levelled the score. Following a well-delivered corner, Mohannad Abu Taher’s precise cross found the unmarked Al Owan, who expertly headed the ball past Benabid. The match intensified further in the 68th minute when Jordan’s Al Owan calmly converted a penalty, awarded after a VAR review confirmed a handball by Ashraf El Mahdioui inside the box.
Morocco refused to yield. In the 87th minute, Abder Razzaq scored a fortunate but well-taken goal, as a header from Mohammed Hirmat was parried, the rebound striking Razzaq before hitting the post and finally crossing the line. The score was level once again at 2-2, sending the final into extra time.
The extra period proved decisive. In the 100th minute, Morocco finally broke the deadlock. From a corner, Marwane Saadane’s header fell near Abder Razzaq, who calmly converted from close range, securing the Arab Cup for Morocco. The victory sparked jubilation among players and supporters alike.
This triumph marks Morocco’s second Arab Cup title, following their first victory in 2012. With the tournament concluded, Morocco’s champions are now preparing to compete in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations. Their latest success promises to boost the team’s confidence and solidify their position as a dominant force in regional football. The thrilling final demonstrated not only Morocco’s resilience but also the growing competitiveness of Arab football, offering fans a match that will be remembered for years to come.
