When Divine took to the stage at Rolling Loud India, it was evident from the first beat that he was prepared to make history. Accompanied by a full live band, the Gully Gang founder delivered a performance that combined musical complexity, high-octane energy, and unmistakable charisma. Riar Saab, MC Altaf, and Sambata joined him on stage, creating a familial, collective vibe while highlighting the strength and unity of the Gully Gang. Divine also gave shoutouts to other artists shaping the Indian hip hop scene, including Seedhe Maut and Hanumankind, further demonstrating his role as both a leader and a mentor.

The performance included sneak peeks of tracks from his then-unreleased album, Walking on Water, teasing fans with glimpses of what would become one of the most anticipated releases in contemporary Indian music. Now available on all major streaming platforms, Walking on Water showcases Divine in full command of his craft.

The opening tracks, “Dr. Divine” and “Jungle Juice,” immediately establish the album’s tone. “Dr. Divine” is introspective, offering listeners a window into Divine’s mind and experiences, while “Jungle Juice” cleverly reinterprets a Bollywood sample into a slow-burning, hypnotic track. Collaboration remains a key strength: the posse cut “ABCD” brings MC Altaf and Sambata into the spotlight, while “Tequila Tales” features Hanumankind, producing a track with an infectious energy reminiscent of the Neptunes’ early 2000s productions.

Incorporating previously released singles like “Rain,” “You & I,” and “Triple OG,” the album successfully balances themes of reflection, ambition, and braggadocio. Following the global trajectory of Gunehgar in 2022, Divine has re-centred his focus on the Indian music scene, demonstrating his unwavering dominance and vision.

Walking on Water is more than just an album; it is a statement. Divine asserts his influence, not just as a rapper, but as a cultural figure capable of pushing Indian hip hop to international prominence. Listeners are left with a sense of awe at his lyrical dexterity, inventive production choices, and unparalleled stage presence. In every sense, Divine continues to walk — and indeed, stride — on water, leaving an indelible mark on the world of music.
