The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued a five-day weather outlook predicting temporary gusty or stormy winds accompanied by rainfall, including thunderstorms, across various regions of the country. Despite this wet spell, daytime and nighttime temperatures are expected to rise slightly.
The forecast, provided on Sunday (29 March) by meteorologist Md. Shahinul Islam, highlights the influence of an upper-level low-pressure system currently located over West Bengal and surrounding areas. Meanwhile, the seasonal low-pressure system persists over the southern Bay of Bengal. This combination is expected to trigger scattered showers and thunderstorms in different parts of Bangladesh over the coming days.
According to the meteorological office, in the next 24 hours, some areas of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions may experience temporary gusty winds with thunderstorm activity. Temperatures across the country are expected to increase marginally during both day and night.
The weather outlook for the next few days is as follows:
| Date | Affected Divisions | Expected Conditions | Temperature Trend |
|---|---|---|---|
| 30 Mar (Mon) | Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, Sylhet; scattered areas in Rangpur & Rajshahi | Temporary gusty/stormy winds with rainfall and thunderstorms | Day & night temperatures largely unchanged |
| 31 Mar (Tue) | Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, Sylhet | Temporary gusty/stormy winds with rainfall and thunderstorms | Day temperature stable; night slightly cooler |
| 1 Apr (Wed) | Rangpur, Chattogram, Sylhet (isolated areas) | Temporary gusty winds with rainfall and thunderstorms; elsewhere partly cloudy, mostly dry | Slight increase in day & night temperatures |
| 2 Apr (Thu) | Sylhet (scattered), Dhaka & Chattogram (isolated) | Temporary gusty winds with rainfall and thunderstorms; elsewhere partly cloudy, mainly dry | Slight increase in day & night temperatures |
The meteorological department advises citizens to remain cautious, particularly in areas expected to experience thunderstorms and gusty winds. While rainfall is intermittent, the combination of strong winds and localized thunderstorms could pose risks, especially for outdoor activities and riverine areas.
Overall, the coming days will see a mix of wet and dry spells, with daytime and nighttime temperatures gradually trending upward in most regions. The public is encouraged to follow regular updates from the Bangladesh Meteorological Department for the latest weather alerts.
