A fatal road collision in Dinajpur’s Birampur upazila has left two people dead and at least ten others injured after a passenger bus crashed into a stationary truck on the Dinajpur–Dhaka highway.

The accident occurred on Sunday (29 March) in the Chandipur area of Birampur, causing severe disruption to traffic and drawing a swift response from local authorities and emergency services.

According to initial reports, a truck had been parked by the roadside when a Dhaka-bound passenger bus from Panchagarh struck it with significant force. The impact was so severe that the front sections of both vehicles were extensively crushed. Two individuals—identified as the bus helper and a passenger—died at the scene due to critical injuries.

One of the deceased has been identified as Mosharraf Hossain Babu (58), son of Khabir Uddin from Arikhola area in Srinagar upazila of Munshiganj district. The identity of the second victim could not be confirmed immediately.

At least ten other passengers sustained injuries in the collision. Local residents, assisted by police personnel, rescued the injured and transported them to Birampur Upazila Health Complex and Fulbari Upazila Health Complex for emergency medical treatment. Several of the injured are reported to be in serious condition.

Following the crash, vehicular movement on the busy highway was temporarily suspended, leading to congestion in surrounding areas. Law enforcement officers later cleared the wreckage and restored normal traffic flow.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident, including whether negligence, mechanical failure, or improper roadside parking contributed to the incident.
