Shakib Al Hasan, the celebrated Bangladesh all-rounder, has earned another prestigious global recognition after being included in Wisden’s all-time Indian Premier League (IPL) Asian XI. The selection, published by the renowned cricketing magazine on Thursday (26 March), highlights the most impactful Asian performers in the tournament’s history. Notably, the XI features no Indian players, while Shakib stands as the sole representative from Bangladesh.

Widely regarded as one of the finest all-rounders of his generation, Shakib built a solid IPL career spanning a decade from 2011 to 2021. Representing franchises such as Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad, he featured in 71 matches, scoring 793 runs at an average of 19.82 and a strike rate of 124.48. However, it was with the ball that he made a more consistent impact, claiming 63 wickets at an impressive economy rate of 7.43, underlining his value as a reliable spin option in the shortest format.

Wisden’s XI reflects a strong Sri Lankan dominance, with six players from the island nation included in the lineup. The team also features notable cricketers from Afghanistan, Pakistan-born English representation, and other Asian cricketing nations, forming a balanced combination of batting strength, spin mastery, and pace versatility.
