The operation was conducted by a team from the Assasuni Police Station following specific intelligence regarding the suspect’s whereabouts. Officers raided his ancestral home in Sarafpur village, situated within the Shobhanali Union of Assasuni Upazila. Rajyeswar Das, the son of the late Kartik Chandra Das, had served as the finance secretary for the Satkhira district unit of the Awami League and had been evading arrest as a named suspect in a regular case registered at the local police station.

Providing details of the late-night operation, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Assasuni Police Station, Md. Jahangir Arif, confirmed that police acted upon precise information that Das had returned to his residence. A team surrounded the premises and executed the arrest without any reported resistance or disruption to local order. Officers noted that Das was listed as an absconding accused in an active criminal investigation, prompting the targeted raid to ensure his court appearance.

Following his detention, police completed initial processing and medical checks before escorting him under security to the Satkhira district court on Wednesday morning. During the court proceedings, defence counsel presented arguments requesting bail. However, the presiding magistrate rejected the petition, granting the prosecution’s prayer to send the politician to jail pending further investigation.

Law enforcement officials maintained that investigations into the underlying case remain active, with authorities continuing to monitor suspects linked to pending warrants in the region. Police reiterated their commitment to executing outstanding court warrants and maintaining public order through routine intelligence-led operations across Assasuni Upazila and the wider Satkhira district.
