Woman Arrested with 2,000 Yaba Pills Hidden in Hair Bun in Bhairab

A woman was arrested in Bhairab of Kishoreganj with 2,000 yaba pills hidden inside her hair bun. The arrest was made by the Department of Narcotics Control on Sunday (7 December) at around 4:00pm near Natai Mor, west of Syed Nazrul Islam Bridge.

The woman was initially identified as Sharifa (55). Later, officials said the arrested woman was Sharifa (50), wife of Nurul Haque of Shibnagar area under Akhaura Police Station in Brahmanbaria.

According to sources, narcotics officers stopped a Laguna vehicle on the southern side of the Dhaka–Sylhet highway in front of the toll plaza west of the bridge. During a search, two packets of yaba pills were recovered, specially concealed inside the woman’s hair bun.

Inspector Chandan Gopal Sur of the Department of Narcotics Control, Bhairab Circle Office, said 2,000 pieces of yaba were seized during a road-side operation. A regular case has been filed against her under the Narcotics Control Act at Bhairab Police Station.
