A young railway passenger has tragically died after striking his head against a concrete structure while leaning out of a moving train in Sirajganj district, Bangladesh.
The fatal incident occurred on Sunday at approximately 1:00 pm at Ullapara Railway Station on the Ishwardi–Dhaka rail corridor. According to railway officials, the accident took place when the Chilahati Express, travelling from Chilahati to Dhaka, was passing through the station without a scheduled stop.
Preliminary accounts indicate that the victim leaned his head out of a window as the train crossed the station area. In doing so, he collided with an iron support pillar of the station’s overbridge. The impact caused fatal injuries, and he died instantly at the scene.
The incident was confirmed by the on-duty station master, Abdul Baten, who stated that the train does not normally halt at Ullapara station. He added that the deceased was estimated to be around 22 to 23 years of age. At the time of the accident, the passenger was wearing an off-white T-shirt and trousers of a similar shade. However, his identity could not be immediately established.
Following the incident, railway authorities informed the Government Railway Police (GRP) in Sirajganj. Police have since initiated procedures to recover the body and arrange for a post-mortem examination. Efforts are also underway to identify the deceased and notify his family.
